This adorable mass of tentacles is actually one of the deadliest things you'll find on the ocean, so don't let its looks deceive you! Jellies are defensive units that will zap enemy units adjacent to them every time they move or the enemy moves next to them! You can use a Jelly or two to hold down certain chokepoints or whittle down a few enemies at once to make them easy prey for your Sharks or Tridentions.

The Jelly is a naval unit exclusive to the Aquarion tribe. It is unlocked by the Navigation technology and replaces the Bomber. The Jelly was introduced in the Aquarion rework.

The unit's unique skill, tentacles, causes it to deal damage to any enemy unit that moves to any tile adjacent to it. This skill also causes damage whenever the Jelly moves to a different tile, not too dissimilar to the Juggernaut's stomp skill. It also causes damage when a Jelly is trained, making it the only unit that can deal damage on the same turn it is trained.

Strengths and Weaknesses[]

Jellies are good at:

  • Defending cities. Training a Jelly damages all enemy units around it, as well as any units that walk into its space. Since enemies that move next to the Jelly take damage before they attack, they can be particularly effective against melee units, as they can't attack the unit without taking damage themselves.
  • Creating damage zones. Since Jellies can damage units just by them moving next to it, it can be effective to place them in strategic places that enemy ships would normally pass by. This can create impediments that both slow and damage the enemy if they try to take the same route attack.

Jellies aren't good for:

  • Defending from ranged units. Ranged units, such as Archers, Catapults, Scouts, and Bombers can all attack the Jelly without being affected by its tentacles effect, allowing it to be killed safely.
  • Relying on veteran healing. Due to the Static skill, Jellies can't be promoted to Veterans, and thus lack the ability for a full heal.

Trivia[]

  • The Jelly used to be called the "Yelly Belly," but was changed amid suggestions from players.[1]
  • The Jelly is one of 6 units that has 0 attack, the other 5 being the Mind Bender, the Cloak, the Dinghy, the Dragon Egg, and the Mooni. Interestingly, unlike these 5, it also possess the stiff skill, despite the fact that having 0 attack already makes it unable to retaliate.
