Score is only considered in the Perfection and Glory [[Game Modes|game modes]]. In the Perfection game mode, the goal is to get as many points as possible in 30 turns, and a difficulty bonus is applied to the final score (see [[Score#Difficulty Bonus|below]]). In the Glory game mode, the goal is to be the first player to have 10 thousand points, and there is no difficulty bonus.

== Difficulty Bonus ==

A '''difficulty bonus''' is applied to the final score in the Perfection game mode. This bonus is equal to 100% plus 41% of the natural logarithm of the number of opponents, with an additional 20%, 40%, or 80% if the difficulty level is normal, hard, or crazy, respectively. The maximum difficulty bonus, with 15 crazy-level opponents, is 291%.

Score, measured in points, is a measure of how much a player has achieved in Polytopia.

Score Breakdown

Points are earned in four categories: Army and Territory, Cities, Monuments and Temples, and Science.

When a city is lost, a building is destroyed, or a unit is killed or disbanded, its point value will also be lost.

Army and Territory

  • Units: 5 points per star of a unit's cost. Super units are worth 50 points each. (They have a de facto cost of 10 stars.)
  • Territory: 20 points per tile in the player's territory.
  • Explored tiles: 5 points per explored tile.

Cities

Cities have a value of 100 points plus 50 points per level above level 1. A level 1 city is worth 100 points, excluding points earned from territory control or exploration, and each city upgrade is worth 50 points. Each population gained is worth five points, and any remainder between the number of points from population gain and the total of 50 points for upgrading a city is resolved when the city upgrade occurs.

Each Park is worth 250 points.

Monuments and Temples

Excluding points provided by population, the point value of monuments and temples are as follows:

  • Monuments: 400 points each
  • Temples:
    • Level 1: 100 points
    • Level 2: 150 points
    • Level 3: 200 points
    • Level 4: 250 points
    • Level 5: 300 points

Science

  • Each technology researched is worth 100 points per tier.
