A super unit is a particularly powerful unit that cannot be trained in a city by spending stars; instead, super units are obtained by upgrading a city to level 5 or above or by examining Ruins. The super unit for all regular tribes is the Giant, while the super units for the special tribes Aquarion, ∑∫ỹriȱŋ, Polaris, and Cymanti are the Crab, Dragon, Gaami, and Centipede, respectively.

Besides their sheer strength, super units can be useful as a forced unit spawn to displace units capturing a city. Spawning a super unit in a besieged city will push out the attacking unit. (Most super units have a very high health and defence, allowing them to defend the city. The exception is the Dragon Egg of ∑∫ỹriȱŋ, which can easily be destroyed.) However, players that plan on using this strategy should keep in mind that enemy units may block resources needed to upgrade the city.

Although super units cannot be trained in a city upon demand, they have a theoretical cost of 10 stars. This is reflected in their information card, Disband value of 5 stars (units are worth half their cost when disbanded), and point value of 50 points (units are worth 5 points per star of their cost).
