  • What is the background of the Xin-Xi tribe? This is mainly a Chinese/Japanese debate. We should settle this soon.

      Loading editor
    • Personally I think that they're Japanese:

      • The Xin-Xi helmet design reflects that of samurai.
      • The forests are filled with cherry trees, according to the tribe description.
        Loading editor
    • same points as last thread, chinese usually uses x's over z's, japanese usually use z's. if you look up xi xin, it's actually chinese wild ginger. china also has cherry blossoms. and here's the kicker: if you look at the wiki page for xinxi, it says outright that they're based on ancient china..... so yeah, they're probably chinese...

        Loading editor
    • turns out someone changed the wiki page. i guess the deciding factor would be if midjiwan happens to see this and steps in

        Loading editor
    • if you look up "ancient chinese helmets" you can find some that look similar to the xinxi helmets

There is a tibetan tradition of hanging small triangular flags with prayers on them so as to grant protection to the sherpas.

    • The helmet definetely leans more towards the Japanese side, but the language is more of a split. They did not have horses in Japan. Both had small orange fruits, and the mountains more closely resemble Japan's. As for the flora, there is evidence of sakura trees in both Korea and Japan, and some even claim South Korea's Jeju islands had the original sakura.

    • Maybe, but it is nessersary to point out thet though there are a lot of blurred features of the Chinese and the Japanese in the Xin-xi tribe, it is predominantly Japanese than Chinese.

      1. Xin-xi starts with the climbing tech, but ancient China based itself on river floodplains, specifically the Yellow River, so no mountains; mountain worshipping is developed quite lately during late Warring States period and early Qin.

      2. Xin-xi buildings have framed white walls which resemble buildings of the Yamato culture. Chinese walls tends to be red or brown(if not painted on) withoust frames. Frames are for windows. Even in Jiangnan where most buildings are white it's certain that they don't have frames on the walls. And those lanterns! the chinese don't favour white lanterns hanging on buildings we like them RED!

      3. All the monuments don't resemble Chinese historic sites, the grand bazar looks like Higashi Gyoen in Japan though.

The reason I want to make this clear is because China had an unpleasant history with Japan ever since the Ming dynasty, and the two cultures went seperate ways which makes them distinct from one another. Like the European and the Vikings.
