− | Legend says that many moons ago, nomads who were runaway Ancient Imperius tribesmen came across a vast land of little vegetation. The land had no trace of opportunity with it. To make things worse, they had almost wiped out the Leoon population, resulting in a food shortage throughout the clan of nomads. Suddenly, someone dropped a basket of seeds on the ground. This summoned a being far greater than any other: the supreme god of the sky and sun known as Cowa. Cowa made a deal with these nomads, that if they would honor the names of the gods, the gods would give these people a paradise to call home. Upon agreement, all of the gods created a bond and disappeared. In confusion, the nomads quickly looked around and started to panic. Soon enough however, they fell asleep en masse. They woke up to find a lush grassland, filled with fertile soil, Waongii, and a new animal they called a Geroffy. They knew this would be their home. They also knew now that laying seeds on the ground was a sacred practice. However, they didn't yet know that it would also grow food out of the ground. Over each laying of the first seed every year, they would get a visit from various gods to gain a bit of knowledge. Some things they learned were farming techniques, zoology cataloging, and the famous woven Leoon skins we know and love. With this, the nomads created an identity we now know as the Zebasi. Even to this day, the gods bless us with new forms of knowledge. For this reason, the seed moon is left to commit all of your time to the gods. Year round, the Zebasi pray to Cowa, update catalogs, and continue to farm. If faith is lost, the land will return to a desolate wasteland forever. |

Tribe Celebrations
- 2019 Tribe Day: The wily Leoon, often seen in Kickoo lands, were native to the Zebasi savannahs before the Zebasi hunted them to near extinction for their pelts. Most modern Zebasi have never seen a Leoon, so they use their textile skills to manufacture replicas to honor their ancestors.
- 2020 Tribe Moon: M'basana Jerozi, aka the "Geroffy," was the first of many animals to be cataloged by Zebasi scholars in the Zuzanna Yaya, the Square's largest compendium of flora and fauna. Horticulture, zoology, botany, and biology are all fields of study for the curious inhabitants of Zeboya.
Webshop
- Geroffies are one of the tallest land animals on the Square. They take great pride in their abnormally long necks and swing their heads around to look fancy. If you don't keep your eyes open, you might get your helmet bruised.[1]
- No Zebasi would reject a cold, fresh cup of Waongii juice. The taste is very similar to watermelon, but with an even more refreshing and robust taste. Waongii plants can grow to become gigantic, and some are even large enough to provide shelter for Zebasi families after the juice has been depleted.[2]
- Polytopians all over the square envy the exquisite craftsmanship of the Zebasi weavers. They make the most stunning carpets, helmets, and also[...] handy tusi pouches.[3]

Trivia
- The Zebasi are influenced by all of sub-Saharan Africa.[4]
- In the ambience that plays throughout Zebasi lands, birds chirping and what seems to be wind blowing through the grass (or some animal, perhaps a rattlesnake, hissing or rattling as in the Oumaji ambience) are heard.
- All profits from the sale of the Zebasi tribe are invested in solar energy products through Trine.[5]
- Zebasi "inherited" its trees from Oumaji: before Zebasi was released, Oumaji had the acacia trees.
- The Zebasi fruit was changed from red watermelons to orange cantaloupes in late 2019. This was done to avoid potential concerns about racism.[6] This change was controversial, with some complaining that the old fruit were more aesthetically pleasing and thematically appropriate.[7]
